Loop Cross S1 5wt

Just finished up the Cross S1 build that I've been working on between other builds.
Wrapped it in Burnt Orange with Black trim to match the Loop real with the custom painted spool.
All of the guides are Black Pearl Recoils and the grip is one of my custom carbon fiber wrapped. Looking forward to using this on trout this fall as well as a small river rod.

Another Kabuto Build

To quote The Fiberglass Manifesto, "Glass is not Dead".
There has been a resurrection of fiberglass fly rods over the last few years and I was glad to be able to build on a Kabuto glass blank. These blanks are true pieces of art and add class to the fiberglass market.
I built this rod on a Kabuto 765-3  five weight blank which is 7'6" in length and consists of three sections.

Using a custom carbon fiber wrapped grip which was paired with a carbon fiber insert in the reel seat for a little more modern touch. I used black pearl Recoil stripping guide and snake guides to round it off. It was wrapped in burgundy thread with black accent wraps and finished with a light coat of finish.

LOOP Cross S1 Flatsman 10wt build

This was pretty cool. I was contacted by a rod manufacturer to do a special build for them. I had free reign and they sent the blank and a reel with a custom spool for me to use as color reference. Decided to black it out, used recoil guides and after making the grip I wrapped it in carbon fiber to match the reel seat. Since the spool of the reel is the centerpiece I decided not to take away from it so I just used a matching color as accent wraps. It is a 10wt 4pc Loop.

Kabuto 765-3

Finished the Kabuto blank build. It's a 7'6" 5wt in 3piece Kabuto white blank wrapped in dark blue thread with black accents. The grip is rubberized cork pieced together and shaped on a lathe. Recoil black pearl stripping guide and black snake guides and tip top. Reel seat is black web with black carbon insert.

Kabuto Build Begins

Well almost....

I've been sitting on these two Kabuto blanks for a few months while I get caught up on some other builds. With the holidays approaching I will have time to build them up. The black Recoil guides and solid black webbed reel seat have been ordered and will be in by the end of the week. Can't wait to cast one.

FLY Rod 008

Work has been busy so rod building was put on the back burner for awhile. I did find time later in the evening to work on this new fly rod. It is a 9ft 5wt built on a 4pc Am/Tac Matrix blank. These blanks are strong, using a cross weave pattern in the butt section for more strength.
The guides are from American Tackle as well and are wrapped in light green thread with some tan accent wraps. Even use a double footed guide for the hook keeper.
